A Texas woman is accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend’s 7-year-old son.
The woman, identified as Brooke Craig, is charged with capital murder after allegedly gunning down the boy, Kaden Green, in the city of Greenville.
Craig, 26, was taken into custody after the police from the Dallas suburb of Frisco came to an end. Her boyfriend, Cameron Castillo, was also in the car and taken into custody.
According to a spokeswoman for Child Protective Services, Castillo is the child’s father but Craig is not his mother. Craig and Castillo have been in a relationship for an unspecified amount of time.
Police say they received a disturbing the peace call about the Greenville home on Thursday afternoon.
Soon after, they were told a seven-year-old had died after being transported to the hospital to receive treatment for a gunshot wound.
The pursuit started at approximately 2:45 Friday morning and concluded about nine miles down the road. There were no reported injuries as a result of the pursuit.
Craig’s name is mentioned in a capital murder warrant stemming from the shooting. No motive is known at this time.
The seven-year-old Kaden’s siblings were removed from the home and are now in foster care, said a spokesperson for Child Protective Services to WFAA-TV.
